Have you always wanted

 to write a book?

You can. You can write a really good book, with your name on the cover, which people will buy, read and appreciate. You will have the prestige and distinction of being a published author.

And you'll get paid for it

Sounds too good to be true, doesn't it? But if you'll take a couple of minutes and read my story, you'll see that this isn't hype, it's real. I've done what I am telling you about and I'm going to show you step-for-step how to do the same.

I have written seven books and they are being bought, read, and they are earning me money. Not a fortune, but enough to make life more pleasant.

But before we go any further, don't go thinking that this can be achieved without effort. Writing a book requires you to focus and see your project through to completion. You'll have to do the work, but I will show you how, I'll help you to stay motivated, and if you get stuck, I'll be there to give you a hand.

So let me ask you to look a little way into the future and imagine a few months from now, with the writing done and your book beginning to sell.

How do you think you will feel?

I'm darn sure it will include some of these things:

  • Relief and elation that the work is finished.

  • Terrific satisfaction that you have what it takes to complete a challenge.

  • Pride that you are an author and people are giving you recognition for that.

  • A new bounce in your soul - an upsurge in your self-worth and confidence.

  • A positive feeling about your future.

  • A realisation that if you put your mind to it, you can do anything.

I'll tell you one more thing I absolutely guarantee - and if this doesn't happen I'll not only give you your money back, I'll walk naked down Main Street with a sign round my neck saying " I am a liar, a cheat and a fraud" - when you get your first sale and payment you'll have a smile on your face all day.

How much can you earn writing books? There are too many variables to say; it ranges between pocket money and enough to lead a glitzy existence.

But even if it were only a little extra, wouldn't your life be easier with a bit more money coming in?

And if it was a way higher amount, what would you do if it made you financially independent? One item that's high on my list; I would want to see that if any of my three kids were struggling I'd be able to help. How about you?

There is one thing about the financial aspect I haven't mentioned so far and I think it's brilliant. I absolutely love it. Selling books the way I do generates passive income.

What does that mean, passive income? It means you get paid for work that you have done in the past, and you keep on getting paid without doing anything more for it.

Musicians get broadcast fees every time their song is played on the radio, actors get repeat fees when their movies are shown again, writers get payment for every book sold.

Contrast that with a regular job: you drive a truck or spend your life working in an office and from time to time the boss hands over your wages. What are the chances that he or she will pay you again for that exact same work?

But if you write a book and place it for sale where I do, you will get paid over and over and over and over again. Eventually it may stop - they say that all good things come to an end - but for me it hasn't yet and that's 11 years so far.

This aspect is so good because once you've written one book you can write another - and it will be easier the second time around. Now you have two streams of income. Why not keep going,? I did and what you are reading about right now is my book number seven.

If I had known about writing to generate passive income I would have begun it many years before. Oh well better late than never. But the chances are that you're younger than me, so I suggest that you get started now, today.

You'll thank me if you do.

* * *

Maybe this is the point where your inner voice is saying "Yes but . . ." and you are torn between wanting to go for it and the objections that pop into your mind.

  • "I'd love to write a book but I have a busy life, I don't have the time."

  • "I don't have enough education to be a writer."

  • "I'm too old / too young."

  • English isn't my first language."

Let's review these thoughts and see them for what they truly are, which is excuses.

I don't have enough time. Well on this planet everybody gets 24 hours per day, no more no less. Yet some people achieve worthwhile goals while others don't. Why, what's the difference, the critical factor?

It's that achievers prioritise their time and make the important things in their life "musts".

Ok some people have it easy, I'll grant you that. "Daddy's rich and set up a trust fund for me". Makes you sick, don't it.

And again some people are working 2 or 3 jobs just to pay the rent and feed their kids - and for them I feel truly sorry; this is not a fair world.

But most of us waste some of our time on unproductive things, stuff which isn't even particularly enjoyable. Obviously TV and a lot of YouTube and social media can be a big thief of time.

Challenge yourself to a mental review; in a day what are the main chunks of your time spent on? Work; kids; shopping / cooking / eating; exercise; relaxing, sleeping - these are all necessary, but there has to be at least half an hour that you could find for writing. Probably several times that.

If I put a cheque, made out to you for $1,000 but unsigned, on your kitchen table and said, "Call me when you've finished writing your book and I'll come over and sign it". Do you think that would help you find a few hours every week?

I ain't got no qualifications - is that why you think you can't write?

Well brother, sister, mate, amigo, neither do I. I failed the exam to get in to high school, so my dad paid for me to go to a private school. There I got c grades in my final year and then flunked out after one year at college. A distinguished academic career, no way.

So how come I can write books now?

I have taught myself, and if I can, with - as far as the education system was concerned - no talent for writing the English language, then you can too. I learned  about writing from some great information sources - I am going to share them with you.

What's more important than qualifications is experience. That part I will claim; I've done all kinds of different jobs, met a lot of people and been to many places. All that helps me with my writing, and if you can say that you are knowledgeable or inquisitive or experienced in some area you have the same qualifications as me.

I'm too old / too young. You think you are too old or young? If you really believe that then maybe you are, but I think most people never discover the true extent of their abilities. What have you got to lose by giving it a try?

If you are between 15 and 85 I won't accept age as a valid reason because you don't need to look far to find accomplished authors at both ends of that range.

English is not my first language - no problem, you can use my method for the writing, whatever your mother tongue. And for marketing your book any of these languages will be fine: Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian.

Why my method works

If you didn't have a plan, building a house or a boat would be hard wouldn't it?

Writing a book is just the same, if you don't have a plan you spend a lot of your time trying to figure out what your next step is. That's time lost from the actual writing.

If you are a handy type of person, you'll know that the second time you do a job it goes a whole lot faster than the first and the result is better. The reason is simple, now you know what works and what you need to be careful about.

There's a word for that, it's experience.

With a plan for writing your book, you don't need to wonder, "where am I going with this?" Instead your energy is used on getting the words written.

This means that you get much more done in the time you have available, it also deals with the irksome problem of 'writer's block' - that's where you are staring at a blank sheet or screen and the ideas stubbornly fail to come.

My way to write books has become a process with specific steps to follow and actions to take. It has taken me 11 years to develop. It results in successful  books.

Before you say, "there must be a catch", you're right there is, it takes effort to write and you have to stick at it, because until it's done, it isn't done.

Why people fail to write the book that they always wanted to.

You’ve had an interesting life and maybe kept a diary. Later on you think that your story has reader- appeal; people regularly tell you "you should write a book". Is that familiar?

It is for me, I was on holiday recently and in the space of a week, two people said exactly that to me. What they didn’t know, (and I didn’t tell them), is I already am a writer.

You’re not alone if you have a story to tell and you relish the idea of being an author, many people have that wish. My mother did, an elderly couple in Canada, amongst my best friends, are the same and so is a youthful Caribbean / British acquaintance of mine. All have something interesting to say and they would be pleased as Punch if they could get their experiences down in a book

But they haven’t so far – and the sad fact is that most likely they never will.  Few people actually manage to do it.

So may I ask "How long ago did you first have the idea of writing a book . . . and how much progress have you made with it?"

I won't  nag you if you haven't got started or if you have but then left off when other urgencies came along. There is a powerful reason why this happens; the task seems overwhelming - too long, too much to think about.

But if you have a template and tackle one task at a time, writing becomes do-able, and it's a joy to see the book taking shape page by page, day by day.

(An aside: do you think that an 18 year old girl could walk from New York to Los Angeles, then across Australia and next the entire length of Africa? Well Ffyona Campbell, from Perth Scotland did. How about that for will power and endurance! In comparison writing a book is a stroll in the park. For her it was one step at a time; for you one word.)

The other night I was in my local pub and to amuse the folks there I did a few magic tricks. Simple stuff really, making coins move around and disappear mysteriously. My audience liked it and were baffled how it was done. They couldn’t do it themselves, but I know a couple of little secrets which make the seemingly impossible, elementary.

Writing and getting paid for it is the same. Like so many other things, it’s easy when you know how.

Here are my first books (there's another one undergoing revision at the moment).

How to Hire a Good Technical Salesman manual

How to Create Powerful Technical Sales Literature manual    How to Motivate Sales People manual   Sales Prospecting for Engineers manual

(From the titles you'll see that I am addressing a niche market. That's both good and bad: relatively few competitors but a restricted target audience.)

Writing books can also lead to invitations to speak. My record fee to date was $2,500 for one meeting. Another one, coming up shortly, is for $2,000. OK ex-presidents get more. I’m not an ex-president, nor a sporting hero, but believe me, I’m happy when such an offer comes in.

Sales on autopilot

What do I have to do to sell my books? Nothing. That’s right, I do nothing at all, of any sort, whatsoever. I could lie in bed all day and all night and it would have no effect on the sales of my books.

The sales portal I use (and will recommend to you) deals with the incoming orders, sends out the books and its payment facility puts the money from sales (minus a small percentage for their service) directly into my bank account at 14 day intervals.

You find this hands-off sales operation hard to believe?  I can understand that. But what I am telling you is completely true. Once the book is written, if it has appeal for its intended audience and you have it positioned in the right sales location of the internet, there's nothing you have to do except wait for the money to flow.

Man, if you have ever run a business, had staff to pay, dealt with accountants, been away from home on frequent business trips, needed to go to the bank to deposit cheques, this is heaven. I've done all that stuff and I have no urge to do any more of it.

The advantages over conventional business:·

  • No big investment or financial risk

  • No office needed

  • No employees

  • No business licence

  • Rapid payment / no invoicing

  • No fees to agents or accountants

  • No travel required

  • No age limits

  • Write once, get paid repeatedly

  • Earnings are determined solely by the popularity of your book

  • Satisfying work

  • Gain status

  • Other earning opportunities open up for you

  • A growing market

Did I say that this is going to make you rich?

There are too many variables to make that promise, but I will state categorically that my method gives you a good chance to succeed in writing a book and getting paid for it.

That said I will be showing you examples of writers who have made a great deal of money with books of the type my method suits.

The return on time is fantastic

What I will say for sure is that what you in effect get paid for the time you spend writing is fantastic. My first book took me only two weeks to write - my head was full of the ideas that I wanted to get down on paper.

I've been selling it for many years, making the total value of sales in the high 5 figures. With a simple calculation, I find that the time spent writing (around 70 hours, if I remember right) has in effect been paid at an extraordinary hourly rate. Way way more than I ever got for a regular job.

So here’s my sales pitch – you knew it was coming
